Analytics — Google Analytics
We use Google Analytics, a web analytics service operated by Google LLC (a US-based company), to help us understand how visitors use our Site. Google Analytics collects information such as your IP address, browser type, pages visited, session duration, and referring URLs through the use of cookies and similar tracking technologies. This information is aggregated and used solely to improve our Site and services.
We have enabled IP anonymization in Google Analytics, which truncates your IP address before it is stored by Google, reducing the ability to identify you individually. Google’s handling of analytics data is governed by Google’s Privacy Policy, available at policies.google.com/privacy. You may opt out of Google Analytics tracking across all websites by installing the Google Analytics Opt-out Browser Add-on, available at tools.google.com/dlpage/gaoptout.
Cloud Infrastructure — Amazon Web Services (AWS)
We use Amazon Web Services (AWS), a cloud computing platform operated by Amazon Web Services, Inc. (a US-based company), to host and store internal data, which may include Personal Information collected through the Site. AWS acts as a data processor on our behalf and is contractually prohibited from using your Personal Information for any purpose other than providing cloud infrastructure services to us. AWS maintains extensive security certifications and compliance programs. Amazon’s handling of data processed through AWS is governed by the AWS Privacy Notice, available at aws.amazon.com/privacy.
Accounting — QuickBooks Online
We use QuickBooks Online, a cloud-based accounting platform operated by Intuit Inc. (a US-based company), for internal bookkeeping and financial record keeping. In the course of managing our accounts, customer names, billing addresses, and transaction information may be stored within QuickBooks Online. This information is used solely for accounting and regulatory compliance purposes and is not used by Intuit for marketing. Intuit’s handling of your information is governed by Intuit’s Privacy Policy, available at intuit.com/privacy.
Payment Processing — Stripe
We use Stripe, Inc. (a US-based third-party payment processor) to process payment card transactions. When you make a purchase, relevant personal and payment information (such as your name, billing address, and card details) is transmitted to and processed by Stripe. Payment card data is handled directly by Stripe; Tek Gear does not store raw card numbers on its systems. Stripe’s handling of your information is governed by Stripe’s own Privacy Policy, available at stripe.com/privacy.
Shipping and Fulfillment — Couriers
To fulfill your orders, we share your name, shipping address, and relevant purchase information with third-party courier and logistics providers, which may include DHL, UPS, FedEx, and other carriers as required. These providers use your information solely to deliver your order and manage related logistics such as tracking and customs clearance. As these carriers are primarily US-based, your information will be transferred outside of Canada in the course of fulfillment. Each carrier’s handling of your personal information is governed by their respective privacy policies.
Email Marketing — Brevo
We use Brevo (formerly Sendinblue), a French-based email marketing platform, to send promotional and transactional emails. For this purpose, we share your name and email address with Brevo. Brevo is subject to the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR), which provides a level of privacy protection comparable to Canadian standards. Brevo’s handling of your information is governed by its Privacy Policy, available at brevo.com/legal/privacypolicy. You may unsubscribe from marketing emails at any time by clicking the unsubscribe link in any email we send.
5. Cross-Border Transfer of Personal Information
Some of our service providers and partners may be located outside of Canada, including in the United States. When your Personal Information is transferred to another jurisdiction, it may be subject to the laws of that jurisdiction, which may differ from Canadian privacy laws.
Where we transfer personal information outside of Canada, we take steps to ensure that appropriate contractual and security safeguards are in place so that your information receives a comparable level of protection. By providing us with your Personal Information, you acknowledge and consent to such transfers as described in this Privacy Policy.
Residents of Quebec are advised that their Personal Information may be communicated outside of Quebec. We conduct privacy impact assessments where required under applicable law prior to making such transfers.
6. Security and Retention
We protect Personal Information against loss, theft, unauthorized access, disclosure, copying, use, modification, or destruction. To prevent unauthorized access or disclosure, we have put in place suitable physical, electronic, and managerial procedures to safeguard the information we collect online.
We will keep your Personal Information for as long as is necessary to fulfill the identified purposes or as required by law. Generally, we will destroy or anonymize your Personal Information when your account with us is no longer active (in most cases, our retention period is one year following account closure, unless a longer period is required by applicable law).
7. Breach of Security Safeguards
In the event of a breach of security safeguards involving your Personal Information that creates a real risk of significant harm to you, we will notify you and, where required, the Office of the Privacy Commissioner of Canada (OPC) and applicable provincial privacy authorities, in accordance with PIPEDA and applicable provincial privacy laws.
Notification will be provided as soon as feasible. We maintain a record of all such breaches for a minimum of 24 months as required by law.
