  2. Fantastic w/ Surface Pro 4!
(TL;DR - this product is great. If you're an artist and use a tablet for drawing but need a keyboard but want to minimize your tabletop footprint, consider getting this instead of a regular keyboard.)

    Story time!

As an artist, I love the Surface Pro 4, but because I use it mainly for my artwork (via Photoshop), I need access to keys, which requires me to keep the type cover connected, which results in a larger footprint when laying it flat on a table surface. Since I'm artsy fartsy, I often need to change work locations to stay fresh and inspired, and this includes a lot of different coffee shops with sometimes not-to-big table surfaces (I've got an image to maintain; so do they, apparently :P). I longed for a "one-handed controller" that was wireless and could let me program shortcut keys, so I could use Photoshop on the Surface Pro 4 without attaching the type cover, and not lose key functionality (since, if you're in my shoes, you know that the digital keyboard on screen is just not a viable solution at all).

I first looked at (first-person shooter) gaming accessories, thinking that they must have super-specialized one-handed "controllers" to help with their WASD gaming. However, all such solutions featured devices that were a) corded (can't lose latency/response time with wireless solutions), and b) had to be set on a flat surface, probably the same tabletop the computer's sitting on. So those were pretty big limitations.

This awesome device, the Twiddler 3, solved both problems. With one hand using my Surface Pen on the tablet, and the other hand casually resting by my side (on or off the table) using the Twiddler 3, I can draw on Photoshop at full effectiveness. (It did take some getting used to, but the keyboard tutorials were very straightforward. I know we all have super-short attention spans these days, but with just a little patience and practice, you'll feel comfortable with it in very little time. After about a week, I was almost back to full drawing speed, and by the end of the second week, I was even more efficient in doing my art with the Twiddler 3 vs. when I had my keyboard. (Not having to look down to see where to press really adds up when you do hundreds or thousands of key presses in a short amount of time.)

My only regret... is that I lost my Twiddler 3 over the winter holiday. :( So now, after going back to using my type cover for months, and still not feeling the same... I am back to get another one. #firstworldproblems right?! :P (Thankful to be in a season of life where I have the budget for this.)

And that's my story. The End. Now go treat yourself to some ice cream! You deserve it, after reading this super long review. Cheers. :)

  3. excellent device (five stars)
This product needs at least one review! First of all, about me - I am a user who has also learned to use another exotic keyboard. I use the Alphagrip for almost all my work and find it extremely useful. I have not yet learned to be very fast on the twiddler (less than 25 words a minute) but I am still finding the twiddler very useful on a daily basis.
I love the twiddler. Its main strength is that it can be used with a single hand, leaving one hand free for other tasks. This makes it very different from the other keyboards that I use. I use the twiddler with my Windows tablet, while walking and texting, when I am doing photo-editing, when I am eating lunch at work and such like. In all of these tasks I get a big benefit from having one hand free.
It is very small and has an elegant design. I thought that it might be too small for my hands but once I started using it I found this not to be the case.
The fact that it is wireless is also very nice., though Bluetooth brings its own headaches. It works best with my windows tablet. If I pair it with the tablet, they will automatically reconnect if they get a chance after being disconnected. I also use it with my phone but I need to reconnect each time. With my laptop, I have lots of trouble with the Bluetooth and I have taken to simply connecting them with a usb cable which works fine.
Of the keyboards that I use, I find the twiddler is the most difficult to use. It requires dexterity and strength in the hand. (I use my non-dominant hand (left hand) to leave the right hand free for other tasks.) Some of the chords may take practice to achieve. I also glued the velcro strap on and after doing that I was much happier with the device (be warned though - once you glue it you are committed so you need care to get it right the first time).
I would give it five stars rather than four because - as far as I know - this device is pretty much unique. I know of no other usable small one-handed keyboards. It is a very useful keyboard to have and be able to use. I use it daily (or close to).

  4. Great alternative way to input!
Just recieved my twiddler! My wife and I loved it so much we want another so we could practice together at night after the kids are asleep.

It feels a bit awkward to hold at first but so did typing on a qwerty keyboard for the first time. After following the instructions on how to hold and typing a few things on the typing tutor it became much more comfortable.

The idea of being able to lounge back and still type at a respectable clip totally has us totally hooked.

I hope they provide a offline tuner and tutor one day.
