The SVGA+ active matrix OLED provides a complete integrated analog interface microdisplay solution. With a resolution of 852 x 600 triad pixels, it was dubbed "SVGA+" because it has 52 more display columns than a standard SVGA display. The design permits users to run either (i) standard SVGA (800 x 600 pixels) to interface to the analog output of many portable computers or (ii) 852 x 480, using all the data available from a DVD player in a 16:9 wide screen entertainment format. It is ideal for use in PC monitors, entertainment headsets, and portable DVD players. The integrated circuit accepts dc-coupled R, G, B inputs with separate external vertical and horizontal synchronization inputs, in accordance with the VESA VSIS standard. A fourth analog input is provided for Composite Monochrome, compatible with the SMPTE-170 standard. The microdisplay also includes an on-chip PLL for pixel clock recovery. Selection between the video modes is done through a register set accessible via the on-chip serial interface. The power-up default is a 60Hz zoom mode. The serial interface also provides for user adjustments such as contrast, brightness, PLL parameters, and display orientation. SVGA+ Series OLEDs also have an internal NTSC monochrome video decoder for low power night vision systems. This product is designed to interface with most portable personal computers.
